We’re back with the second year of Champions for the Brokenhearted! This initiative has multiplied our ability not just to inspire the brokenhearted and reach the lost, but to give them expert insights into their challenges and next steps in their journey of healing and faith. With over 8.3 million views on YouTube and just under 200-thousand shares, we believe this program isn’t contributing to the noise this generation is inundated by, but rather cutting through it. And because of the results we saw in 2022, we felt it prudent to continue with the same topics in order to dive in deeper and provide more resources for the brokenhearted. To kick off the second year of our Champions for the Brokenhearted initiative Nick sat down with Jaco Booyens for a followup conversation on the issue of human-trafficking.

During Nick’s first interview with Jaco they were joined by Sheriff Bill Waybourn who was able to shed some light on the horrific realities of human trafficking in Texas, USA. You can watch this insightful interview right here.

Over the last decade there has been a growing awareness of the adult and child sex-trafficking within the United States–but despite most efforts, modern day slavery has grown 300 percent in America. What is contributing to this crisis? What are the missed signs or missed opportunities that need to be addressed? And while the spread of this evil continues to grow in the midst of greater awareness, we must also ask the question: has our nation grown numb to this tragedy? Because Jaco is actively engaged in the fight to combat trafficking in the U.S and globally we wanted to continue our conversation with Jaco and address these questions.

What’s in this interview?

While trafficking happens for different reasons, the security crisis at our nation’s border has exacerbated the tragedy at hand. In this interview Jaco discusses his countless trips to the U.S-Mexico border to fight the lawlessness that has put so many innocent lives in danger. Many are being coerced to come into the country with false hope that they will be taken care of, but the resources and facilities are not there.

To be released this year, Jaco’s film Borders to Bridges will bring the heart of Christ into the conversation by unpacking the key question that believers now face–how can we, as a Church, meet people where they’re at and build bridges of compassion, ministry, and discipleship?

How can I receive help?

If you are currently being trafficked and are able to reach out for help, we urge you to call the trafficking hotline: 1-888-373-7888 ( TTY: 711) In addition to talking to an expert, you can always submit a prayer request on the ministries Prayer Wall. There are people ready to help you.

Despite who you are or what you’ve walked through, there is always hope.  Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” If this is you, we want you to know that we’re praying for you, we love you, and God loves you. We encourage you to watch Nick’s full message here

We want you to know that God has a purpose for your life. Annie Lobert’s testimony with I Am Second illustrates how God can make beauty from the ashes of a broken life. His love is perfect and He offers you a new life, free from sin and shame. Watch Annie’s story with I Am Second today.

How can I help?

While our first goal with Champions for the Brokenhearted is to give hope and resources to those who are suffering, our second goal is to create Champions, those who will join us in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the brokenhearted. To get involved in the fight to end human trafficking please explore the Advocacy section of The Trafficked webpage where you will find resources from our partners including A21, founded by Christine Caine.

Until next time

To all of our donors and everyone who prays for us, thank you so much for all of your support. We are so grateful for you and how you have partnered with God to help us accomplish everything we do. If you are passionate about serving the brokenhearted would you prayerfully consider joining Circle of Champions where you can take part in our mission?

We know topics like human trafficking can be discouraging, but we know we fight from victory and not for victory because through the resurrection of Jesus Christ the enemy has been defeated. And because of this assurance we are determined to continue to stand at the gates of hell and redirect traffic.
